Osmosis Staking Guide

September 30, 2024

Introduction

Osmosis staking allows users to delegate their OSMO tokens to validators who secure the Osmosis blockchain, earning rewards in return. By staking, participants contribute to the network’s security and decentralisation while receiving staking yields. This guide will walk you through the step-by-step process of staking your OSMO tokens on Osmosis, from connecting your wallet to selecting a validator and viewing your rewards.

If you wish to refresh your knowledge of how Osmosis works, check out our blog, where you will find a deep dive into It

Buy OSMO Token

To stake OSMO on Osmosis, you’ll first need to purchase OSMO tokens. A straightforward way to acquire OSMO is through our Binance link and receive a $600 USD welcome offer. Navigate to the “Markets” section, and search for OSMO. Once you’ve located the OSMO pair, proceed to purchase your desired amount.

After buying OSMO, transfer it off the exchange by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the “Wallet” section in Binance.
  2. Select “Withdraw” and choose OSMO as the token.
  3. Enter your Osmosis wallet address (you can find it within your wallet once connected to the Osmosis portal).
  4. Set the withdrawal amount and confirm the transaction.

Now that your OSMO tokens are safely transferred, you’re ready to start staking

Staking OSMO from Simply’s Dashboard

Access the Landing Page

First of all, navigate to our landing page at simplystaking.com and hit the “Stake” button below the partnership banner.

Choose The Network & Connect the Wallet

After you choose “Stake”, you will be directed to our multi-chain staking dashboard, where you can choose your desired network (in this case Osmosis) and connect your pre-funded wallet by clicking “Connect Wallet”.

You should be presented with the choice of wallets, following which you should approve the connection between your wallet and the staking interface. The described step is shown below:

Time to stake

After you are connected, you will see an intuitive dashboard covering how much Osmo is under your control called “Total”, the amount of OSMO you can access under the “Available” section, as well as “Staked” – showing the amount of OSMO you have already staked with us. Last but not least, the “Claimable” box is where your rewards are accrued which you can withdraw at any time.

The next step is to hit the “Delegate” button,  and choose the amount of OSMO you want to delegate to us. Just like in the picture below.

Finally, click “Approve” and relax, your OSMO is now together with thousands of assets surpassing $1 Billion, which Simply has managed without downtime for over several years!

Staking OSMO from OSMOSIS DEX

Access & Navigate Osmosis Staking

As the first step, access the Osmosis portal: https://app.osmosis.zone and navigate to the “Stake” icon on your mid-left side.

After you click the “Stake” button, the UI will direct you to the staking section where you will be able to connect your wallet.

Connect Your Wallet

Hit the “Connect Wallet” button, and expect to be presented with a set of wallets from which you can choose your desired one.

Choose the Amount for Staking

After connecting your wallet, you’ll be able to select the amount of OSMO you want to stake. You can either:

  • Use the “HALF” button to stake 50% of your OSMO
  • Use the “MAX” button to stake 100% of your OSMO
  • Enter a custom amount manually

After you choose your desired staking amount, hit “Stake”

Select a Validator

If you are new to OSOMO staking, the UI will prompt you to choose your desired validator. The validator you will choose will act as your agent, staking on behalf of you. Most of the staking yield distributed by the network to the validator will be automatically allocated to your wallet, less the amount of commission fee that the validator charges for delegation.

As a next step, click the “Build stake squad to continue” button and choose your desired validator.

Naturally, we decided on Simply Staking – as one of the OG validators of Osmosis. We run our own Tier 3 data centres to guarantee the security and safety of $1bn staked asset trusted to us by delegators all around the world.

Confirm Staking

After you choose your validator, press “Set Squad & Stake” and sign the transaction on your wallet, and that’s it – you have successfully staked your OSMO!

View Staking Summary

After signing, you will be automatically returned to your staking board in the “Stake” section, where you will see the “Total staked balance” displaying the number of OSMO staked and it’s equivalence to USD.  your “Unclaimed rewards” section is where your OSMO is accumulated and can be claimed anytime.

To stake directly from your Keplr wallet, access the Keplr dashboard and navigate to “Stake” section.

In this section, Choose Osmosis from the assets drop-down list.

Afterwards, choose a validator, hopefully, it will be us – “Simply Staking”

Choosing Amount & Staking

Once you choose the validator, the staking module will pop up on your right-hand side. Click “Stake” to choose the amount you want to delegate.

Once you click “Stake” choose the number of OSMO you want to stake under the “Amount to Stake” box and hit “Stake” again!

Approve and Check

As usual, approve your transaction from your wallet to finalise the staking process!

After approval, you can see the stakeable value of your OSMO as well as the amount you have staked under the “Total Available Value” & “Total Staking Value” respectively

Moving Funds to a Ledger Wallet

If you ever wish to unstake your OSMO and store it securely, you can easily transfer your assets to a Ledger wallet. Simply follow the unstaking process and move your tokens to Ledger for safe offline storage!
